The Science

Understanding TB-500

Thymosin Beta-4 (Tβ4) is a 43-amino-acid peptide naturally produced in the thymus and found in nearly every cell and body fluid. TB-500 is its synthetic analog — a fragment designed to replicate the tissue-repair and cell-migration properties of the parent peptide.

What Makes TB-500 Unique

TB-500's primary mechanism centers on actin polymerization — the process of building the cell's internal scaffolding. By sequestering G-actin monomers, it promotes cytoskeletal remodeling that enables cells to migrate into damaged tissue, making it fundamentally different from peptides that target metabolic or hormonal pathways.

How It Works

TB-500 upregulates actin to drive cell migration and wound healing. Simultaneously, it promotes angiogenesis through VEGF signaling, modulates inflammation by shifting the IL-10/TNF-α balance, regulates matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) for tissue remodeling, and has been studied for cardiac repair through GATA-4 and Nkx2.5 transcription factor activation.

It does not measure localized tissue actin remodeling, local wound histology, or cardiac-specific transcription factors directly.
